Reach, RoHS & Repa

REACH – Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals

REACH (EC/1907/2006) is the European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use, in force since 2007. REACH is a regulation and therefore directly applicable throughout all EU Member States. It does not require transposition into national laws of Member States.

All undertakings that manufacture, import, distribute, or use a substance as such, in a mixture or an article, are affected by the provisions of REACH. Although the focus is primarily on substances, there are also certain obligations with respect to articles. Because obligations depend on the role of a company, it is important to determine if one is considered a manufacturer, producer, importer or downstream user in the terminology of REACH.

Sundplast comply with the restrictions laid down in REACH.

RoHS – Restriction of Hazardous Substances

The Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment 2002/95/EC (commonly referred to as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive or RoHS) was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union. The RoHS directive took effect on 1 July 2006, and is required to be enforced and become law in each member state.

Sundplast comply with the restrictions laid down in RoHS.

REPA

REPA is a part of FTI (Packaging and Newspaper collection) which is a company within the recycling industry, whose task is to ensure that packages and newspapers in Sweden are collected and recycled. Their operations are based on governmental regulations and producer responsibility for packaging and magazines. The producer responsibility is a regulation that was added in order to create an environmentally sustainable society for the future.

The visionary perspective of the future is a society based on short product life cycles, where most of what is considered as waste today will form certain types of useful resources in the future. The principled method that the Parliament accepted in 1993 for this work is to place the environmental responsibility on the producer. The producers shall be held responsible for the commodities even after the consumers’ final usage.

Sundplast is connected to the REPA register.
